"My baby is very sick."
One woman rolled down her window and said she didn't speak much English. A Spanish speaker picked up quickly that she was there, perhaps for someone else, regarding abortion. The sidewalk counselor spoke with her a little about the risks of abortion and ambulances that had been seen just weeks before. The woman nodded, "thank you" for the info and proceeded into the parking lot.
A couple days later, that same driver brought a woman to the abortion facility and rolled down her window so the same sidewalk counselor could talk with the woman. The woman explained that, "My baby is very sick."
The sidewalk counselor encouraged her to look into talking with an OB/GYN other than at the abortion facility because we had seen cases where girls found out their baby was fine. The sidewalk counselor spoke of the risks for the mother that are caused by abortion. She also spoke of how the child's life situation was the same as two year old having the same medical problem; we would try to correct the problem and not allow someone to end their life! The sidewalk counselor offered an adoption agency that was specifically for special needs children (C.H.A.S.K.).
The driver was obviously an influence in this decision making process because of the way the girl kept looking to her. The driver did not appear to be convinced as they drove into the abortion facility parking lot. Somehow they were either deceived or convinced by the lie that it was better to have the child torn apart rather than suffering through this sickness.
It's incredibly sad when you see that someone really believes that they are helping to give the woman a "reset" button on their life by "ending the pregnancy" through abortion. The woman's life is not "reset" by abortion; her life is "upset" by abortion. She hurt spiritually, emotionally and, possibly even, physically.
And there are so many things you can question yourself about regarding the words you chose, the questions you asked, and the tone you set in that moment of aiming to save a woman and her baby from abortion. Yet, we must remember that we can always rely on God. When we can not longer speak with them - or when we don't know what to say - we can pray. And we can hand that child and that mother to God! Please pray with us that she does not have an abortion!
*We are so proud of our volunteers today!
We had volunteers who peacefully interacted with a woman in scrubs who came out to stir up some confrontation today. Please keep all the workers in your prayers! God wants them just as much as He wants those babies! And the workers are more at risk of being lost where they are at the moment! We are very thankful today for ATTWN's: abortionworker.com! Peaceful interaction is critical in the process of conversion! What a blessing to have a prayerful, peaceful, legal, pro-life witness on the sidewalk today!
Thank you to St. John Vianney and Love Let's Live for sponsoring this day of prayer for an end to abortion! Thank you also to the group of St. Martha's parishioners, especially Sr. Jacinta, of the Daughters of Divine Love, who came out today, and also to Joseph who is so faithful in his prayer presence and his loving interactions on the sidewalk each week!
UNITING WITH 40 DAYS FOR LIFE AROUND THE WORLD!
As we unite with the International 40 Days for Life and their 375 locations around the world in prayer, we pray with them a specific prayer intention and scripture verse.
Oct 19th, Day 23:
Intention: We pray for the strength to love those who do not love us.
Scripture: But the Lord said "You have had pity on the plant for which you have not labored, nor made it grow, which came up in the night and perished in the night. And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left, and much livestock? Should I not be concerned about that great city?" -Jonah 4:10-11
