40 Days for Life - Houston - Day 27

"Only Pro-Lifers Care for Both. No Matter What!"

Today we had a few interactions comprising quite a mixed combination of sad and happy stories on the sidewalk today. So I will start with the sad news and a prayer request, but hopefully leave you with a smile.

A young woman going into the abortion facility, was quite determined that she must have an abortion. Yet for some reason she was very open to talking with the sidewalk counselor and she took the literature.  She was there for the ultrasound today, so please pray that she will think about what the life affirming information she heard on the sidewalk and not return tomorrow.

Another woman was out there smoking and clearly trying to convince herself to do or to allow something that she did not feel comfortable with.  Her body language indicated that she wanted the support of the man who was driving her - though what she wanted was not clear.  When he signaled to her to see the sidewalk counselor, she looked; when he offered her a drink, she took it; when she went in...he stayed in the car.  We pray men will realize the powerful impact they have and guide women to safety away from the abortion facility.

Someone with a badge and a hot pink shirt came out and saw the person holding a sign that said "Pregnant? Need Help?" and contained the number on the Houston Coalition for Life coupon for a free pregnancy test and ultrasound.  We are there to help re-direct the workers too!

We also had several women come to the Big Blue Bus. One of the clients had a friend who sat on the Planned Parenthood lawn and her children played in the shade.  As volunteers we do NOT go onto Planned Parenthood Property since that would be trespassing, but we do not tell our clients nor our client's friends where to go regarding property lines. We just encourage them not to go to Planned Parenthood. Period.  We have no choice were they go, and no authority to tell them.

We were later told by the client's friend "Jemma", that a woman came out from the Planned Parenthood and after a brief conversation about who Jemma was waiting for, she asked Jemma and her kids get off of the property. She also told her that she could not be on the sidewalk - which is not truePlanned Parenthood does not own the sidewalk nor the public right of way. I found this conversation a little amusing, since it meant Planned Parenthood was basically pushing away a potential client with a message that mixed both some "true" and some false info.  Jemma had responded to the worker, "You must not like kids then." She reasoned that if the woman liked kids, she would have invited her into the facility.  Personally I'm glad such an invitation was not made, and the conversation happened because it was an opportunity for them to discredit themselves on several levels starting with:  Where was the "Care. No Matter What." for a woman choosing a wise parenthood option on that hot day?

Thank you to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for sponsoring this day of prayer for an end to abortion.  Thank you to Prince of Peace for sponsoring, last Saturday, Day 25 of the 40 Days for Life! Thank you also to Love Let's Live and Life Changing Ministries for bringing people out to the sidewalk to pray for an end to abortion! And thank you to all the individuals who came out to pray for an end to abortion!

UNITING WITH 40 DAYS FOR LIFE AROUND THE WORLD!

As we unite with the International 40 Days for Life and their 375 locations around the world in prayer, we pray with them a specific prayer intention and scripture verse.

Oct 23rd, Day 27:

Intention: We pray for humility in our work for God’s Kingdom.

Scripture: Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. — Philippians 2:5-8

NEWS FROM THE BIG BLUE BUS

Friday, the Big Blue Bus was blessed to have 4 visits. Of these women, 1 had a negative pregnancy test, 2 had new pregnancies and 1 came for a follow up visit. At this point, all of these moms are planning to parent.

Saturday, Baby Blue was out instead of Big Blue and was blessed to have 3 visits. Of these women, 2 were pregnant and still considering abortion. One woman received a referral.

Please keep these women in your prayers!

All praise and glory to God!
