40 Days for Life - Houston - Days 31 & 32

"How do you get them to take literature?"

So often sidewalk counselors are asked the question by the prayer partners: "How do you get them to stop and take literature as they are going in and out of the Planned Parenthood parking lot?"

The answer: The women and the drivers can tell, from the way we stand and the moment that we make eye contact, that we care about them!

We begin with the compassionate approach that recognizes that they are likely in a crisis and need a calm response unique to their situation!  Whether or not we say it directly, we approach them as a unique creation of God who is loved by Him and as a woman or man who is in danger of being hurt at an abortion facility.

We give them the benefit of the doubt that they may not know the danger they are putting themselves in as they go to an abortion facility.  We fully understand, these girls (and their drivers) may not even know this Planned Parenthood is an abortion facility or that we have seen girls being wheeled out on gurneys to ambulances because of botched abortions, or that this Planned Parenthood facility is being investigated for illegal activity.

We know these girls may not have been told how abortion harms a woman and her unborn child.  Then we aim to speak directly to assist them in getting out of a crisis situation and away from the abortion facility.

Offering free pregnancy tests and free ultrasounds and resources - readily available right there on the Big Blue Bus - is an added (though essential) bonus after the woman or man is willing to pause to talk with the sidewalk counselor in the first place.

The literature not only allows for them to receive access to a number of free pregnancy related services and a network of other resources, but the brochures give them material that they can read and educate themselves with facts and various topics that will help them choose never to come back to the abortion facility for any of their services because there is actual help in the community!

Thank you to St. Michael Catholic Church for officially sponsoring Friday as a day of prayer outside of the largest abortion facility in the Western Hemisphere! Thank you to Mary Queen Catholic Church and all who joined in prayer on Friday!

Thank you St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church for officially sponsoring today, Saturday, as a day of prayer for an end to abortion!  Thank you to Love Let's Live and Life Changing Ministries for also coming out to pray for an end to abortion!

Thank you also to all the individuals who came out to pray for an end to abortion!

As we unite with the International 40 Days for Life and their 375 locations around the world in prayer, we pray with them a specific prayer intention and scripture verse.

Oct 27th, Day 31:

Intention:  For the medical community, that the truth they know about the human body may become awe and wonder at the God Who made it!

Scripture:  Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. - Psalm 139:16

Oct 28th, Day 32:

Intention: As we pray for the end of abortion, let us pray for the expansion of the pregnancy help center movement worldwide.

Scripture: His tail swept a third of the stars from the sky and hurled them down to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth, ready to devour her child when it should be born. She gave birth to a son-a boy destined to shepherd all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was caught up to God and to his throne. Revelation 12:4-5*

Thursday, the Big Blue Bus was blessed to have 4 visits. Of these women, 2 had a negative pregnancy test, 2 came for a follow up visit. At this point, all of these moms are planning to parent. Please keep these women in your prayers! All praise and glory to God!
